Main contractor Walls Construction were contracted to redevelop the existing Point Theatre into Ireland’s largest indoor venue currently know as the 3 Arena. The listed facade of the Point Theatre was retained with the capacity increased from 8,500 to 14,500 which required a complete reconfiguration of the stage and seating within a very tight building envelope. The new seating design creates a gigantic “fan” formation which the architects likened to the Colosseum in Rome. The venue hosts over 150 event nights per annum with major touring acts declaring it as one of the best venues for audience interaction in the world. Concast were instructed by Walls Construction to provide the Precast terracing for 9,500 seats along with curved vomitory walls and stair units. A high quality fair-faced finish was required to all exposed Precast. Concast have worked with Walls Construction on other high profile projects including the National College of Ireland Maynooth.
