Concast produced and erection all precast elements for the car park at St. Paul's Quay, Wexford. This structure made use of the long span capabilities of 400 deep Hollowcore, which can span up to 16m under car park loadings. These long span slabs allowed large open plan areas, for movement and parking of vehicles.
Concast cast multi storey columns around the outside of the structure, with spandrel beams spanning between the units. Internally, single storey columns were used with continuous spine beams spanning between them.
This car park was complicated by an existing structure in its vicinity. This was an ESB sub station, which could not be moved. To allow Concast to build over this structure, we used a 56 Tonne Vierendeel Girder. This allowed the column to be moved away from the ESB sub station, and for the structure to continue above it.
Scope of Work: All Columns, Beams, Spandrels, Stairs, Landings, Hollowcore and Wideslab
Size of Project: 9,500 sq. m.
